In today’s White-centered, patriarchal, capitalistic society we are inundated with messages that our value as human beings is derived from our productivity or success. Our mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual health are grossly undervalued. That, combined with the intergenerational trauma that comes from long standing systems of oppression (racism, classism, sexism, cisheterocentrism, colonialism) can leave many of us moving through the world in a constant state of fight/flight/freeze/dissociation response. That may help us function enough to get through our daily responsibilities, but our bodies store that energy and fatigue and exhaustion are inevitable.
We believe that therapy can be a port in the storm of a chaotic world. In the co-created safety of the therapeutic relationship we can experience the healing and growth that will allow us to connect to our truly authentic selves. All of our therapists practice from a critical race theory, queer theory, trauma-informed perspective.
